Delayed Listings, Divided Industry: What NAR’s New Policy Means for Real Estate Tech

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has introduced a controversial policy shift with “Multiple Listing Options for Sellers.” Effective March 25, 2025, the policy introduces “delayed marketing exempt listings”  allowing sellers to hold back public marketing of a listing while still sharing it internally within the MLS.

The intent? Greater flexibility for sellers.

The result? Division.

Just this week, CRMLS, the nation’s largest MLS, announced it will not adopt the policy, citing concerns over transparency and platform fragmentation.
